A Krav Maga Session

Krav Maga in Hyderabad is getting popular each day with new people joining in almost every weekend! It is a good sign that awareness is spreading regarding self-defense and people are turning towards this practical self-defense art.

Stats apart, posting this picture here simply reflects my happiness to be featured in the picture, a session in the dojo ๐Ÿ˜€

Yet Another Facet I Call ‘Me’!

โ€œLife begins at the end of your comfort zoneโ€ used to buzz in my ears as I used to sink back under my comforter. And the few days that I did run and cycled it was no motivational gibberish or any stories or the wish of weight loss that used to play in my head but pure simple counting numbers and trying to breathe in tune were my saviors. So I got up, ran, crossed my own limits, bought a cycle, took pictures with it to post on FB, took some more time to take it out, made some rounds with it, improved on that and then DONE! Practice was over and with an unsure heart just stood there at the starting line on the D-Day of Duathlon and finished it.

Then came the realization! I gave myself a nice gift on the eve of my 31st birthday, my first Duathlon medal! ๐Ÿ˜€

Now, for the record, the Great Hyderabad Adventure Club (GHAC) Duathlon was conducted on 20th October 2013 and consisted of 5KM run, 20KM cycling followed by 3KM run. And I could finish it within 2 hour 17 minutes.

Did I mention my major inspirations behind the participation? Here are they ๐Ÿ˜€

The HKMites Ajit sir, Ram n Me ๐Ÿ™‚

And the personal photography & cheer-leading team consisting of Hubby, Rahul and Suvidha ๐Ÿ˜€

And now the beautiful memories of the event as it went and captured in pixels.

I sure enjoyed the run; both 5km and 3km…

Cycling back proved to be a pain!!!

The spirit of sportsmanship; Ram continued even after much pain and Sir helped like a true inspiration ๐Ÿ™‚

A piece of cake!

Ram sure had an injury day!!! But kudos for continuing and finishing it even with a much better timing than me!

Uff ye ada!! ๐Ÿ˜€

U sure proved ur mettle!!!

The satisfied me! ๐Ÿ˜€

An eventful day ended with a nice group dinner at Mast Kalandar and now I am looking for the next such event to enjoy the gala time again ๐Ÿ™‚ . Thanks GHAC for such a nice event.

A Fun Filled Krav Maga Team Outing – Part I

It was a CW Proposal. If you are wondering what or who this highly confidential sounding CW is, then here is the answer – CW denotes Mr. Clarence Wong, the never exhaustive activity think-tank in our energetic Hyderabad Krav Maga family. Now, to catch up on the trail let’s come back to the ‘CW Proposal’ which was a quick trip to Medak Church and the nearby dam. So, on a fine Saturday afternoon, divided in four cars, we started our trip.

The group on the trip

The journey that ensued created a string of fun-filled moments that till date we cherish. For instance the memorable detour of our Sir ji and Rahul; their pakoda picnic on the way while the rest of us was trying to get them back with us thinking they are having a hard time finding the way back!

medak2Sir n Rahul before taking off to their detour! ๐Ÿ˜€

We also did experience being ‘stranded’ in the middle of a highway, that also sitting in a moving car due a spectacular difference in speed between the three other cars! While CW’s mean-machine zoomed passed ours, there was no sign of Sir’s Yeti cause of his cautious driving ๐Ÿ˜€ . The only relief was the occasional view of Kaushik’s car which signaled that we’re on the right way!

knThat’s KN’s car; our relief!

And at last we reached! The rain started by that time creating a lovely weather but also hurrying us up on the way back. So, here are some quick treat to eyes, the places that we visited –

churchThe Medak Church, our main trip attraction.

And as the evening darkness was setting in fast, conniving with the cloudy weather, we had to start our return journey ASAP. But a lovely and memorable trip was this one paving way for many more in the days to come ๐Ÿ™‚

Krav Maga for LIFE – The Hyderabad Chapter

Krav Maga for Life โ€“ Chapter 2

Blindly believing โ€œIf you do not harm anyone, none will harm youโ€ can work for many; may be in a lifetime they would not face any adversity. But, in a world governed by the principal of โ€˜survival of the fittestโ€™, can we really be lackadaisical about our own safety? Probably not. And here comes the importance, the need of learning self defense techniques, the need of learning Krav Maga.

Why Krav Maga?

You can ask and of course, you should ask, before you commit yourself to the art. Krav Maga is an Israeli Martial Art that combines practical techniques of many other martial art forms like Muay Thai, Jujitsu etc. Basically this form teaches you 200% defense using your body to simultaneously defend against an attack thwart the adversary. You learn to defend yourself against apparently simple but potentially dangerous hand gripping to choke attacks, bear-hug attacks to disarming your opponent once you advance in the levels of learning Krav Maga. So, now you see the practicality of the training? And thatโ€™s not all; regular sessions will help you stay fit as each class opens with fair amount of warm up exercises as well.

Krav Maga Hyderabad Chapter

The exciting and rigorous or excitingly-rigorous session starts with KIDA, the bow, and you are up for a relievingly exhaustive and enjoyable session. So, if you are looking to pep up your fitness regime with practical combative techniques or you are just simply a Krav Maga fan, just make up your mind to follow through the processes and visit the dojo.
